Boston. The high point in the parade every year are the Boston Evzones, who kick off the
parade. The Boston Evzones are an elite group of local young men, who portray the Greek
Presidential Guard. Mr. Themistoklis Karatzas, President of FHASNE states: ”Each year, we
celebrate and remember our forefathers and their struggle for freedom and independence. It’s
important that we never forget our rich history, and that we teach and remind our children about
the importance of fighting for freedom and democracy. We are also very pleased that we can
share our beautiful Greek culture with the community at large and look forward to having
everyone join us in celebration!” At the conclusion of the parade, a lively Greek celebration will
take place on the Boston Common and will feature Greek music, traditional Greek dance
performances and Greek food.
Prior to the Parade on Sunday all are invited to attend the 10 a.m. Doxology at the Annunciation
Cathedral, Parker & Ruggles Streets, Boston, presided by His Eminence, Metropolitan Methodios.
